Mac narrowed its market share significantly over Windows

There is no debate about the dominance of Windows product key in the PC world. Recent research shows that Microsoft accounted for 78 percent of all PC shipments, while Macs accounted for 3.7 percent. However, the dominant position of Microsoft is not as high as before.
According to Asymco's research, the share of PCs running Windows compared to Macs has shrunk dramatically and this gap is considered the "narrowest" since the mid-1990s. The widest gap is in the years 2004, when the PC running Windows sold 50 times higher than the Mac. By the end of last year, this figure had been reduced to 20 times.
Although there is still a long way but clear, it is a powerful leap of the Mac. Apple computers have been increasing sales for many years. Windows PC sales continue to rise, but Mac sales seem to be growing stronger. A year ago, PCs accounted for 90% of all PCs shipped worldwide.
Asymco's sales figures include tablet PCs - devices that are increasingly outpacing PC and Mac sales. iPad currently accounts for about 11% of the computer market, while Samssung, Amazon and other Android tablet makers account for about 7%.
Apple is the world's largest maker of PCs with a 14.6% market share, followed by HP with 14.1%.
With Windows 8 product key coming out in the fall, along with the Microsoft-Surface tablet, the picture of the market will likely continue to change. Windows 8 with a modern Metro interface will take the ambition to dominate the tablet and traditional PC of Microsoft office 2013 product key, but the discount for Windows 8 upgrade to only $ 40 is a testament to that ambition.
