Vulnerability allows websites to crash a Windows 7 or 8 computer

Shortly after the WannaCry blackmail attack on the global scale, the Windows product key platform continues to appear new vulnerabilities, causing the system to crash.
According to Theverge, the new vulnerability appears in both Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, allowing a malicious Web site to upload an image file named "$ MFT" in the directory path. Windows uses $ MFT for special metadata files used by the NTFS file system, and Windows 7 and Windows 8 do not correctly handle this directory.
Theverge's test shows that the exploit was successfully exploited on a Windows 7 machine with the default Internet Explorer. Using the file name with "c: \ $ MFT \ 123" on a result webpage shows that the computer slows down to the point that you have to restart so that it can resume operation. Some computers may even display the blue screen, as a result of file system locking on that file and all other applications can not access the file.
This strange error does not affect Windows 10 product key users, but it is quite similar to the old problem in Windows 95 and 98, where the reference to the "c: \ con \ con" folder will damage the system. the system.
The NTFS bug seems to have been discovered earlier this week and reported to Microsoft office 2016 product key but it is unclear when Microsoft will provide a fix. Reports indicate that it affects Windows Vista 7 and 8, but only Windows 7 and 8 are included in Microsoft's support policy.
